Guarantees

Work is guaranteed, and the guarantee varies depending on the work provided. Please remember that every repair we carry out is unique, and is functioning under conditions which will not be repeated. Most repairs function very well for many years. The materials we have available are better than they have ever been. Despite this there are failures, and we continually try to learn from these and improve. Usually on close examination of a failure the reason becomes apparent, however, there are occasions when we need to see failures over a long period to come to an understanding of the causes.

We understand that you will be upset if your repair fails, and we will also be disappointed. We will keep you informed about our understanding of the reason for failure and make every effort to rectify the situation. We would ask for your patience and hope the points made here help you understand. Please remember that a 'we demand our rights' attitude will not increase the chance of successfully dealing with the problem (nor will it make it worse, because we will act professionally), but it is likely to harm our relationship.

Important points relating to all guarantees

  • If you insist that work is carried out against the dentist's advice there will be no guarantee, and may bring to an end a guarantee already existing for other work on the tooth.
  • Work carried out in accordance with the dentist's advice is eligible for cover.
  • To maintain the guarantee the dentist must be allowed to monitor the work carried out.You will need to attend for regular dental examinations.
  • You must maintain a reasonable standard of home care, and attend for the recommended dental hygienist visits. If we see that your home care is not being successful, we will give warning that a guarantee is in jeopardy and give you the opportunity to rectify the situation.
  • The guarantee is not transferable to another dentist outside this practice. That means that we will not pay another dentist to repair or replace the work. Should you require emergency work away from the practice you should have the minimum carried out to stabilise the situation. If you allow emergency work involving the replacement of the work, then we will not guarantee it, and it may jeopardise the remaining period of your guarantee,
  • The guarantee covers the replacement or repair of the tooth, but not coincidental expenses such as time and travel to and from appointments.
